Alba (Gaelic for Scotland)
Scotts Pine Ale, 7.5% ABV
Alba a spruce and pine ale, from Bruce Williams the brewer of Heather Ale, is a unique beer with a surprising flavor. It is a tawny brown ale, 7.5% ABV, with spruce aroma, rich malt texture, complex wood flavor and a very lingering finish.
Spruce and pine ales were introduced to Scotland by the Vikings and were very popular in the Scottish Highlands until the end of the 19th century. Many early explorers, including Captain Cook, used spruce ale during long sea voyages.
Alba is brewed to a traditional Highland recipe from Scots pine and spruce shoots
picked during early spring. This is Bruce Williams third unique beer made only
from ingredients indigenous to Scotland.
